Biography  ~  Noreen Wensley ARCT RMT

With her roots in Saskatoon, Noreen Wensley first studied piano with her mother, Betty Wensley ARCT; then under Alice McAuley BMus; and Louise MacPherson ARCT RMT.

Mentored by her teacher Louise MacPherson, she began studying Piano Pedagogy (the art of teaching piano) as an advanced music student at a very early age..... age 13, in RCM Grade 9....while being mentored by one of the finest teachers in Canada, Louise McPherson, a graduate of the Gustin School of Music.

Noreen Wensley completed her Royal Conservatory Teacher's ARCT in 1986.  She is very proud to be a member of the first family in Canada to have three consecutive generations ARCT recipients, including herself, her mother, and her daughter.  She is an ardent supporter of the Royal Conservatory, and has much experience teaching the RCM program.

For many years, she has taught both in her own private music studio in the River Heights area of Saskatoon, as well as for the Yamaha School of Music, with a wide array of students from beginner to advanced levels.  Her studio offers the finest instruments for her students' use.... a 6'1" Yamaha grand piano and a Yamaha upright grand, as well as an extensive music library, and a plethora of musical games and rhythm instruments.

Noreen is an executive member of the Saskatoon Registered Music Teachers' Association, has served on the Board of the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers' Association, is a founding member and President of Music Teachers of Saskatoon, has been coordinator of the SRMTA Music Writing Competition, and appeared as a clinician for music teachers' workshops and conventions.  In recent years, she has been invited to lecture in the University of Saskatchewan's Music Department.

Keeping in touch with the world of music is something she is dedicated to.  She makes every effort to familiarize herself with new repertoire books and get to know on a personal level many of the composers of piano music that her students enjoy. With continuing education in mind, she makes every effort to attend CFMTA and MTNA conventions, workshops, and seminars in order to continuously upgrade her musical knowledge.   Most recently, she attended Mount Royal University and became an accredited Suzuki teacher.
